8/22/2010 - Vardar Cup Update
The Vardar girls came out to play and took down an impressive Alliance FC 99 Black team 2-0. The whole team played very well and showed that they deserve to be in the finals against Michigan Hawks later this afternoon. Katelyn netted both of Vardar's goals with assists coming from Alexis and Erika. The girls did a great job winning the 50/50 balls and held a clear advantage in possession. Our defense shut down a number of dangerous scoring chances and the few times they did get through, Taryn came up big in the net.

8/22/2010 - Vardar Cup Final
The girls battled hard for 70 minutes, but unfortunately the Hawks proved to be too much today. The result aside, our girls did themselves proud. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie with our team winning their share of the 50/50 balls. The semi-final match against the Alliance took its toll in the second half as we found ourselves in a defensive posture weathering the storm. Taryn came up big, time and time again, making many spectacular saves. Her performance lead to her being named the Team's MVP for the tournament. Congratulations Taryn. Good job to the entire team. It was fun to watch - you made us all proud.
