8/30/2010 - Friday practice time change
I have had a request to have Friday practice at the earlier time 8:30-10:00. This is to accommodate families heading up north for one last weekend before school. We will practice at the earlier time Friday.
8/30/2010 - Petoskey Saturday Game Pictures
The pictures of the Varsity games at Petoskey are uploaded. They are broken into 2 folders: the game against Petoskey and then the one against Traverse City. Enjoy.
I also have a limited number of pictures of the first JV game wich I will upload Monday. A parent of one of the JV players took pictures during the games but I do not have them nor do I know her name/number. Whoever you are (or if you know her) please contact me and I will do an upload of them too. (248-762-8990)

8/30/2010 - Practice this week
I apologies in advance for this weeks practice schedule going out late. We will practice late tonight 8-9:45 pm

As of next week our practice schedule will remain consistent for the rest of the season. Remember we will have practice Monday (labor day) 8-9:45 pm.
8/27/2010 - Special Thank you
A special thank you to our boosters and volunteer parent workers who do all they can to help the mens soccer off field activities. Without this we would be half as good.
GOOD EVENING. Judy Carson and I want to send a thank you to all our volunteers at concessions this evening. We did a great job and wow everyone was WONDERFUL. Our earnings and this goes toward our team expenses, was a whapping $351. It was a great night with the Knights, the moon was shining and thank goodness for that... SO ALL COULD SEE OUR TEAM CARRYING THE AXE! Candy
8/27/2010 - Petoskey pictures Uploaded
If you're wondering how we're doing in up here in the North, please take a look at our first day's pictures. As you can see, we're eating well and the boys seem anxious and ready to play hard. I'll make every effort to post some pictures from Saturday's games tomorrow night but our internet connection is a bit rough. Wish me luck. More tomorrow. -Bill Carson
8/26/2010 - Notes on Petoskey
How about that! Two closely fought games with one goal victories (1-0JV, 2-1V). I don't think either game was luck, but just good solid play.
Tomorrow please park your cars in the lot next to the trees in the south side of the lot. I've been told this is the best place for the vehicles over the weekend.
Food and beverages are allowed on the bus, but no glass containers. We are responsible for any trash on the bus and it will be inspected as the boys are leaving on Sunday. The rooms will also be inspected on Sunday for cleanliness.
Lastly, remember something to sleep in or on. Bring a towel for showers. While it will be in the 80's all weekend, it should cool down at night to the low 60's. All the rooms do have fans, but there is no A/C. There is also a pool to cool off in.
See you north!
8/26/2010 - Socks and Uniforms
The white long sleeve tops were shipped from the factory in China last Thursday. Hopefully we will receive them soon so the logo and numbers can be added when they get here.
We purchased the gold socks with the intention that they will match the gold jerseys that we ordered. I don't think they work especially well with the current uniforms. Please bring your black socks from last year or any other simple black socks to Petoskey. We will be the 'away' team in both games. I will have a couple of pairs of socks for the new boys on the team.
Thanks,
Keith Peters
8/26/2010 - Warm ups
Soccer Plus will be supplying Adidas Tiro training warm ups again this year. The cost of a jacket is $58 plus tax, which includes the traditional Lahser soccer logo and a name. The cost of the Tiro pants are $35 plus tax. The pants are without any logos, names or numbers.
They can be purchased separately.
Go into Soccer Plus on Telegraph, near Costco, if you wish to purchase warm ups.
Time is limited, so please go in an order them by September 2.
Thanks,
Keith Peters

Congratulations to the boy's for making Lahser soccer history being the first Lahser team to win Detroit Country day soccer tournament. If we keep our discipline on and of the field we will have a great year.
I am often asked by parents if there is anything they can do to help. Yes please help. Help to make sure your son is at practice on time and ready to go. Monitor their off field activities especially the night before games and training. Make sure they are eating the diet of a athlete and drinking plenty water. I have moved our practices to later times this week to let the boy's have more sleep and come to practice with more energy.

6/30/2010 - New Long Sleeve Jerseys for 2010
Yesterday an order was placed for long sleeve Adidas jerseys. They will be a white base with black stripes down the sleeve and gold accents. The Jerseys, once the teams are picked, will be numbered 1 to 40. This will allow the JV players that move up during playoffs to have a number not in conflict with any of the varsity players.
Since the funds are booster earnings from concessions, car washes and friendlies, the players may keep the jerseys.
This is great news considering that the current varsity uniforms are now on their fifth season and the JV is into their eighth season (previously as varsity uniforms)
Ellen Wietecha, Uniforms and Spiritwear coordinator
6/30/2010 - Memory books and DVD
This fall we will be trying a slightly different format for Memory books.
Traditionally, each team JV and Varsity creates a memory book. It has a note from the coach, pictures of each player, team picture, team record, etc in a folder or bound book. This was lead by a team of parents.
This year the JV team will be using the same format. The Varsity team will be having a number of games put to DVD. At the end of the game, the company will be giving a copy to Dougie for review and training purposes. Other game copies may be requested. At the end of the year, they will be creating a video memory book. They will be integrating still pictures as well. This was used very successfully by Brother Rice last year. They can also create a short highlight film to be put on YouTube (for additional cost).
This is a very exiting new chapter for Lahser Soccer.
6/22/2010 - Captain's practices days and times
Until further Captain's practices will be begin tomorrow at 10:30-12:30 at the Lahser main field. Practices will run on the following schedule at Lahser:

Bring a ball, cleats, running shoes and a water bottle.

6/15/2010 - Timed run
All boy's trying out for the soccer team. Please be at the Lahser running track this Thursday June 17th 12:15. We are going to do a mandatory one mile timed run. If for some reason you can't make Thursday please make Friday at the same time. I would prefer everyone to do this together if possible. My travel u16 team just done this end of season with the top three times being 5.10,5.12 and 5.20 respectfully. Dougie MacAulay
6/13/2010 - Travel to Petoskey August 27-29
As last years players will recall we had a very memorable trip to Boyne Valley Lodge in Walloon Lake, Michigan to play Petoskey, Traverse City Central and Marquette. While the result wasn't the most favorable (0-2-1 JV and varsity), there was great camaraderie and rain.
BOTH the JV and Varsity teams will again be traveling to Boyne Valley Lodge the weekend of August 27-29. The district does not provide transportation. Parents will be asked to volunteer to drive and chaperon the boys. Last year the cost for parents was bundled with the players.
If you are interested and driving and/or chaperoning, please send me at e-mail at keithmartha@comcast.net. The actual organization for the event will happen at the parent meeting after tryouts. If you have any questions please call me at 248 854 2363.

6/9/2010 - Elisevich and Kelly win U16 State cup.
Congratulations go out to the Waza U16 Boys Black team for their State Cup Victory. The team was anchored by Erik Kelly with Lee Elisevich up top. After making their way throiugh the quarter finals with a 3-0 victory over the Michigan Wolves, they moved on to the semi finals to play their rivals the Michigan Jaguars. With a semifinal score of 3-2, they defeated the Jaguars to move onto the final game against the Kingdom Premier.
The final game was an exciting one that showed the talent and skill of the U16 Black team. They dominated the game and came away with the victory and a final score of 2-0. The first goal was scored off a rebound off a defender and a hard shot to the back of the net. The second goal was on a Penalty Kick from the 11 meter spot after a player was taken down in the box.
We are proud of their accomplishment, and we say CONGRATULATIONS to our boys and the team! Fantastic job gentlemen!

5/31/2010 - High School Camp at Lahser July 26-30
Dougie MacAulay is leading a camp at Lahser for boys who are interested in playing high school soccer. Camp will include technical training, speed and agility, and small team training. Bring a soccer ball, shin guards, water bottle, and sunscreen.
This is a similar camp as last year, just prior to the fall 'dead' week.
The boys will be using the main turf field at Lahser. It will be held July 26 to July 30 from 1:00 to 3:30. The class must be registered through the Bloomfield Hills Recreation department either in person or through their website at www.bloomfieldrec.org. The class number is 2396. The cost is $92.
Paste this link to go directly to the class. http://www.bloomfieldrec.org/blmfld/ClassDetails.aspx?ClassID=2396&ProgramID=13&ProgramName=Camps&CategoryID=28&CategoryName=Camps%20-%20Sports
5/30/2010 - Lahser Girls play Andover in first round of Districts

5/26/2010 - Have a great summer!
Wishing you all a fantastic summer break.
Please remember to stay in shape over the summer. The best fitness for soccer is soccer. If you are around there will be off season practices morning and afternoon at Lahser (times and dates to follow) If you are around please take part as much as possible as well as long distance running.
If you are not around try to run every day as soccer is a running sport and requires great endurance in this area. It is "very important" All players turn up in top shape at tryouts. There is no time between tryout and our first games. Last year was very disappointing in this area. Only three players turned up with the required stamina and endurance out of all participating. This meant time was wasted getting players who should have been in shape into shape. If you have just finished or are finishing your travel season you should be in decent shape, please do not let it slip away.
This year there will be a zero tolerance rule on any minor in possession. If ANYONE is found guilty of this offence they will be automatically asked to leave the program and take no further part of the 2010 season.
Have a great summer stay healthy, happy and safe!

5/18/2010 - Bloomfield Booster Golf Benefit
The Bloomfield Boosters Golf Outing on Sunday, May 23rd at noon at Shenandoah Golf Club. In the past, the Bloomfield Boosters were funded by the Season Pass revenues and that has now ended completely. This funding loss has given the golf outing a more urgent purpose. It is THE primary fund raiser for additional funding for our athletic teams. We have benefited from the boosters generosity in the past couple of years.
The boosters are hoping there would be at least one foursome from each team (and hopefully more). The event is always a lot of fun and 25% of the cost can be designated back to your specific sport/booster club---and 80% of any sponsor dollars you secure go back to your club, too---win/win/fun.
There is also a dinner only option for $30. You can donate directly to the Bloomfield Boosters as a possible tax donation.
They would really appreciate our support for the Golf Outing and the kids who will receive the grant money from the Bloomfield Boosters next year will, too.
The cost is $100 per player. Registration starts at 11:00 with a shotgun start at 12:00.
Please contact Jeff Paulsen (former boys soccer booster president)if you want to participate this Sunday. If questions, please call him at 248 456 0646.
Thanks for your support,
Keith Peters

2/14/2010 - Framed Jersey
All,
As some of you may know, the district graciously allowed Mark Reedy's old jersey to be donated to his family at the visitation on Monday evening. I know that many were touched by this expression this past week.
The jersey was stitched on to a foamcore and framed by Fastframe at Woodward and Square Lake for a cost of $261.82. Many people have contacted me about assisting in paying for this work.
If you wish to help in paying for the framing of the jersey, please send a check payable to Lahser Mens Soccer Boosters to Jim Cook, treasurer of the boosters. His address is 6891 Oakhills Dr. Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301. Any overage will be donated to the charity designated by Mark's parents.
Yours, Keith Peters
2/6/2010 - Tragic News
Some tragic news. Mark Reedy was killed yesterday in a car accident. He was the passenger in a car that apparently slid into oncoming traffic. Both Mark and the driver were killed. We do not know any further details. Please let the Lahser Soccer community know. Thoughts and prayers are with the Reedy family.

11/24/2009 - Next Year's schedule
Next year's schedule is starting to take shape. Dougie and Avis are looking to putting together a completed schedule sometime early this winter.
It builds off of two things, Petoskey and OAA. Petoskey will be the weekend of August 27-29 with games against Marquette, Petoskey and Traverse City Central.
The decision for the OAA divisions was that there will be two divisions again, each playing a single round robin. This was last fall's final standings:
OAA Red Team W L T Pts Troy 10 0 1 31 Lake Orion 8 2 1 25 Rochester Adams 8 2 1 25 Stoney Creek 6 3 2 20 Clarkston 5 3 3 18 Royal Oak 5 4 2 17 Troy Athens 4 3 4 16 BHills Lahser 3 5 3 12 Rochester 3 7 1 10 AHills Avondale 2 8 1 7 BHills Andover 1 8 2 5 Bir Seaholm 0 10 1 1
OAA White Team W L T Pts Groves 7 0 1 22 W Bloomfield 5 1 2 17 Farmington 5 2 1 16 N Farmington 4 2 2 14 Ferndale 3 3 2 11 Berkley 3 4 1 10 Pontiac 3 5 0 9 FH Harrison 1 6 1 4 Hazel Park 0 8 0 0
Hopefully it looks OK from your end. Lahser will be staying 'up' in OAA Red, while Avondale, Andover, Seaholm will go to OAA White. OAA White will also be joined by Oxford. By playing in OAA Red will gain some flexibility to go to Petoskey and Country Day and still be able to schedule our local opponents.
Lastly, the scores in the memory books were a bit off, you may wish to use the results from the program or the website.

11/17/2009 - Alan's offer
Unfortunately Alan Zakaria could not make the banquet last week, but Jeff Landis read a letter from him.
In it he challenged the underclassmen and JV player, in that next year starts now. "Winning occurs when you have talent AND other intangibles: strong work ethic, discipline, poise under pressure. If we raise the talent of each player, collectively, our squad will be that much stronger. (He) will be available and (he) will make time for every player to meet with (him) to discuss how they can improve for next year. It is up to you whether you take advantage of that opportunity."
I know that this offer goes for Dougie as well.
